I’ve tried to hold my tongue about the Trayvon case, because when I think about or talk about it, it makes my stomach hurt. I CAN’T DO IT ANYMORE. Zimmerman was another sad case of a white man suffering from a racist mindset (white supremacy). He felt as though it was his duty to get rid of Trayvon, because he, like many other white people, feel as though black men (YOUNG BLACK MEN) are the decay of society. Given this notion, he took matters in his own hands. He killed him. He says it was self-defense…(we know better).

Now look at it this way, given the fact that Zimmerman was told NOT to approach the “suspect”, and he did it anyway, he was literally threatening Trayvon. So yeah, Trayvon may have assaulted him because Zimmerman was stalking him and attacking him for no reason! He had no grounds to pursue Trayvon. If he would have never pursued him, he wouldn’t have had to “defend” himself. Trayvon was NOT a threat to Zimmerman or anyone around him.

NOW, all this speculation about Trayvon’s record needs to stop. Is this justification for his death? Because he was allegedly suspended from school for marijuana possession? How many WHITE kids are expelled and suspended from schools because of drug possession? I KNOW PLENTY If they were killed (like Trayvon) would it be justified because they were a “bad seed?” HELL NO.

Racism is alive and well just as sure as the sun rises everyday. Trayvon’s death should not be in vain, we need to see this as an example of how racist America STILL IS and put a foot forward to be more conscious of ourselves. Black, White, Asian, whatever. No Justice No Peace.

Another example, this time from mythology. In the Greek myth of Perseus (the one who killed Medusa), did you know that the princess Andromeda he saves is black? The same Andromeda who was chained to a rock and almost devoured by a sea monster as punishment for her mother’s boastfulness. THAT Andromeda. Yes, Andromeda in the myth is a BLACK WOMAN. She’s from ETHIOPIA (her father Cephus is brother to the kings of Libya and Egypt). She’s black. Heck, Perseus stops in Ethiopia on his way home and ends up saving her there. So, I did a simple Google image search of ‘Average Ethiopian Woman’. The image on the left came up; it’s a composite of multiple faces of various Ethiopian women morphed together to form an ‘average’. Andromeda would historically look like the image on the left. But check out the images on the right: THAT is how the Ethiopian princess has been portrayed throughout the ages - as a white woman. In sculpture, paintings, and film she’s almost always portrayed as white. In fact, I’ve only ever seen two pictures of Andromeda as black, and at the time I didn’t even recognize her because the total whitewashing of her and her culture is so pervasive. Not only has Andromeda from the myth been whitewashed, her people and culture in the myth have been as well.
